Continuing Professional Development Series
Prevalence of diabetes mellitus, especially of Type 2, is on the increase. This rise is most marked in developing countries, Malaysia included. Thus, there is an urgent for strategies to prevent this 'epidemic' and for early diagnosis of diabetes. Beyond these, there is need for ensuring optimal management of the disease, its complications and associated diseases.
To help address these issues, the National Diabetes Institute (NADI) of Malaysia, organises the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Series annually since its inception in 2002.
In 2008, this CPD was expanded as 'Diabetes Asia' Conference (DAC) to emphasis the uniqueness of diabetes presentation and management in Asians. The 'Diabetes Complications' Conference & Grand Rounds (DCOM) was first introduced in 2009 to provide specific focus on diabetic complications.

HCP
NADI will embark on a new programme for healthcare professionals comprising a series of lectures / workshops that will be held regionally throughout the country. Through ‘HCP’ NADI hopes to help healthcare professionals to further improve the quality of diabetes care and to achieve conformity of standards in diabetes care in Malaysia
Serves as a refresher course, HCP will touch on basic aspects of diabetes management. The half-day lectures / workshops will be delivered by experts in diabetes and will emphasize the practical aspects of diabetes to achieve a minimum standard of care.
Attendees will receive a certificate and be eligible to enter a programme for accreditation as ‘NADI Associate’
‘NADI Associate’ will advocate optimal diabetes management and self-care to their patients. They will also pledge to practice NADI’s guidelines in diabetes care.
